We’ve made a couple changes to Green Felt and we’d like to get some feedback on them before doing a wide rollout.

How do I try the beta?

The beta is located at https://beta.greenfelt.net/.

What should you look out for?

  1. We added automatic game saving/reloading. So if you close your browser window in the middle of a game (purposefully or accidentally) then the game will be saved. When you go back to that game it will notice that you have a saved game and automatically reload it. If you don’t wish to continue that game you can always press the “New Game” or “Game of the day” button at that point.

    Note that we save the game locally in your browser, so you can’t continue the saved game on a different device.

    We’d like to know if this feature works for you (as in it isn’t buggy or broken) and also if you love it or hate it (does it get in your way at all?).
  2. We made some internal coding changes that you shouldn’t notice at all but they are substantial enough that we’d like to get some wild user browsers hitting the site to see if anything was inadvertently broken. We’re especially interested in older computers (the older the better!). So if you get error or something doesn’t look the same as the main site, let us know!

Will games played on the beta site count toward the leader board on the main site?

Yes. The beta site shares the same data store as the main site (including all game data and user names/passwords). Though you might have to log in again.

How long is the beta going to run?

As long as it needs to 🙂. But probably 2 or 3 weeks. We’ll edit this post when we close down the beta test.
